

























I needed to come up with a scheme to incorporate my vocabulary into something larger and more meaningful. I couldn’t handle the daunting task of filling an entire page. I couldn’t determine my purpose, so I expanded along radial axes of symmetry.
The mandala is an exploration of empty space. It grows concentrically and requires endless escalation of detail and richness. The further you go, the more you are required to give.
It is important to remember what you started with. How many lines of symmetry did you give yourself? What was the first series of shapes that danced around the center? How does an object evolve as it moves from the origin and gains a separate identity? Does the furthered idea receive more recognition and respect than the simplified and essential set of instructions that preceded it?
